The look of freedom
Jan. 10th, 2005 01:48 pmThis is it, baby. This is what I do on a typical day off.
1. Update my Victoria's Secret wish list. Have I mentioned that my 30th birthmonth is coming up in March (the technical date is the 18th, but no sense in hemming and hawing about technicalities)? I may not be able to resist The Glorious Boots that long. I may be forced to cave and buy them for myself. They're simple and hot - just what I like in a boot.
2. Read. I've now started four different books, because I'm never in the mood for the same book twice. House of Leaves is getting better and better, but it may not be the first that I finish. Enter the Worship Circle is an easier read, and we all know how easy I am. Wait...that didn't come out right....

Top 3 current favorites of each listed in order of importance:
Actors: Brad Pitt (being single again moves him to the top of the list, at least temporarily, although, like many of you, I'm surprisingly saddened by this breakup), Michael Rosenbaum, Matt Czuchry (sp? OK, so not the best actor yet, but Logan is just so cute)
Actresses: Candice Bergen (this position will change by mid-week - I'm still in Boston Legal afterglow), Angelina Jolie, Audrey Hepburn
Movies: The Hudsucker Proxy, Tomb Raider (probably explains the Angelina from the one before. Well, beside the fact that she's on my, um, "exceptions" list), Drop Dead Gorgeous
TV Shows: Boston Legal, Gilmore Girls, Smallville (with honorable mention given to Veronica Mars - when the real season starts back up, I may have to favor this one over that tree show)
Songs: "Dare you to move" by Switchfoot, "Fast as you can" by Fiona Apple, ??? - drawing a blank
Books: House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski (even though I haven't finished it yet), Why Girls are Weird by Pamela Ribon, Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller
Games: Bounce Out, Cranium, Solitaire
Sports: Hockey (crosses fingers), swimming, shopping (hey, it counts the way I do it)
Foods: cheese, popcorn, my (with the aid...ok, the recipe...of Alton Brown) spicy Thai wontons
Beverages: coffee, EE green tea (finally! A green tea that does not taste like I'm licking a tree), merlot
Colors: orange, cranberry red, yellow
Miscellaneous things I like: new towels, getting real mail, pilates
Now you try. Feel free to comment with your favorites of each category or different categories of your preference.
4. Watch TV. Boston Legal = Funniest show in the world. I actually got to watch What Not to Wear Friday night.
5. Eat free food. One of my friends (who shall remain nameless because it would spoil his - or her - secret identity as a superhero) is making us dinner tonight.
6. Actually type out my New Year's resolutions:
a. Lose weight. I know I've said it before, but seriously - it's past time. My goal is fairly reasonable - I'm going to be down one size (which should translate to 7-10 pounds) per month. The goal for this month is just to undo the damage done over the holidays by actually fitting into my clothes properly again. My number one goal is not to let falling short of a goal discourage me from setting new ones.
b. Complain less, particularly about the job(s). I live a pretty graced life. I've got no real cause for complaint. I do, however, reserve the right to vent on occasion, because it's unhealthy to keep all that bottled up. Just not every day.
c. Re-structure the budget so that it's actually workable. I feel exhausted just thinking about it.
So, yeah. Just three. But three is doable.

"My fixtures are always available for inspection."
"You disapprove of me. That warms my cockles."
"It's an ornament."
