The Best Speeches in the History of Ever
Jun. 29th, 2004 09:09 pmYou know it's a good speech night when:
1. You (the teacher) have occasion to write "Yay! Pie!" under the heading of Use of Visual Aid not once, not twice, but three times.
2. Each class has to go through 2 pots of coffee (Equal Exchange Love Buzz blend, naturally - am I a good pimp or what?) to wash down all the treats.
3. The class is so cohesive and the speeches are so good that the initial "Ohmygoodness - it's speech day!" tension is eased by the conversation sparked by the speeches.
4. The sentence, "You have to beat it and whip it," actually comes out of someone's mouth, and it fits into the speech.
5. You (again, as the teacher) don't have to repeat instructions for the remote controls even once because, obviously, everyone listened in lecture, bless their sweet hearts.
Good speech night. I may not sleep because of the intense sugar rush (the five cups of coffee I've consumed over the last three hours, of course, have nothing to do with it), but it was worth it.
