I just spent the last two minutes just blankly staring at the mess I'm making of my submission to the Lexson challenge, so maybe I play for a while, yes? Good. I thought so.

Yea! Saw ROTK yesterday. First LOTR that I saw in the theatre, so I was very, very excited. Especially since I spent most of the other two saying, "Wow. Bet that looked great on the big screen." The night before, Bock and I watched the second one at Solley's to prepare ourselves. Anyway, a group of us went (Nancy wouldn't let Jim see it a third time), and we had fun. Some memorable moments:

We got there late (i.e., 15 minutes early), so the theatre was pretty packed. We ended up on the second row so that all 7 of us could sit together, which was fine, once my eyes adjusted to the enormity of the very close screen. But feeling like I could just reach out and touch Billy (and Orli...and Viggo...hell, I'm not picky) made it all worthwhile.

Pippin is my very favorite ever. Ever. I just love that little hobbit. I shed a little tear when he sang.

I loved sitting by Solley during this movie. She cracks me up. I challenge any of you to rival her Orli-lust. She has it down to a science. She'd not seen the movie yet, but she could always sense when he was going to be on screen, and she would sit up, preparing for the glory. The first time he appeared, she growled and purred in the same breath. She only glared at me slightly when Aragorn was explaining his diversion plan and Legolas said, "A diversion!" and I leaned over and quipped, "Not just another pretty face, my friend." And at the end, when everyone was coming in to see Frodo, she was almost leaping out of her seat in anticipation, and when the huge Legolas appeared, taking up the whole screen, she gripped both armrests and sighed, "OH, Holy Lord." A little prayer of thanks for the beauty that is Orlando Bloom. God bless him.

Another great moment was near the end when they've diverted attention and were surrounded in a circle. My sister whispered "Musk Ox!" You see, our pastor tells this story about the musk ox herds. The lions usually prey on gazelles and like creatures, because they run away, leaving the weak straggling behind. Well, not the musk ox. The musk ox herd puts its weak in the middle and the stronger ones surround them, facing outward toward the attacker. That way, the predator can't just attack one musk ox; it has to attack all of them, so it usually leaves them alone. So we were proud of Viggo and the crew for using the musk ox technique. Wasn't that a riveting story? Aren't you glad you read that part? :)

Anyway. Have I mentioned that I just love Pippin? Almost as much as I love Clay Aiken...

And that was my ROTK adventure. Two thumbs up. Go see it, or see it again, or whatever.

We followed the movie by going to Applebee's to celebrate Nathan's 21st birthday. That was fun. Mmm...perfect margarita...

And that was my day. Today was just work. I gave my sample speeches, bringing the Smallville love and pimping the Equal Exchange to a new flock of students. Just doing my part.

See? Fun! Wasn't it? I haven't put mine up. I'm on the crash-end of my heavy stress, I think. But I'm glad you did. ;D

You must. There's no comparison. I was breathless. Movies like this are why the big screen was invented.
