Disgruntled state employee
Mar. 24th, 2011 10:15 amMore and more, I am super interested in becoming more successful in Pampered Chef so that I can quit teaching. It's just not fun anymore.
Part of this is just my being burned out.
Most of this, however, is due to comments like this: "So..like...we can just make everything up on our resume, right?"
Or this - "How long does this presentation have to be?" (on the day it's due, no less).
Or just by the fact that, when I am generous enough to give students class time to work on projects or presentations, they spend the majority of it bragging about how wasted they were this weekend. Here's an idea - maybe get less wasted and save a few brain cells for some learning, yes?

Date: 2011-03-25 01:59 pm (UTC)The valedictorian (sp?) of my high school class was dumber than mud. He never knew what was going on in classes I had with him. But he was in sports and his teachers were also his coaches.......

Date: 2011-03-25 05:03 pm (UTC)I was sure your rant was going to have to do with state budgets or something. My sister called me yesterday to let me know that State of Missouri is screwing everyone over. Two years ago they put in a hiring freeze, which you know just means that all the existing employees have to pick up more slack. But the latest is that she's rated on the payscale/experience rating as a Level 4. She was just told that she's getting new jobs that are all a Level 16 rating. She won't get the Level 16 pay but she still has to do the job. And when she admitted to being overwhelmed, the HR people said if she can't do that job that she's fired.
