My first mini-fic, so be gentle
Sep. 19th, 2003 02:41 pmActually, it's not even mine. I borrowed characters and history as part of
aelora's Summer Fun Challenge. So I humbly submit my efforts.
Don't expect Lexson quality. It's just a baby fic (although I may have extended the word length - blame it on grad school). Little rough around the edges.
It's only PG, 'cause I'm shy *somewhere, in the distance, peals of laughter are heard*
Yes. I'm stalling.
*pauses, dances a little jig to distract you*
OK...here it is...tell me what you think....gently...
*flinches*
The convertible raced, except this time it was Hudson making the engine scream. Lex watched her from the passenger's seat - a view he'd never had before - her eyes wild with adventure, her foot heavy on the gas, and her hair...her smell...everywhere.
He hadn't intended to let her drive. Damn that pout.
"Now, Hudson, be careful," he teased. "The car's not a toy."
She glanced at him and rolled her eyes, knowing that she had no defense. And she kept driving.
Closer came on the radio, and she lurched to switch the station, a blush creeping into her cheeks that was a sweet and faint as the one on the rose petals on Valentine's Day. Lex's mind wandered momentarily to the meaning behind her blush, but it returned to the car, slightly alarmed, when she squealed, "I love this song!" He couldn't help noticing the words as she began singing at the top of her voice, as if she were in her own little world.
Every time I try to talk to you
I get tongue-tied
Turns out that everything I say to you
Comes out wrong and never comes out right
So I'll say why don't you and I get together and take on the world
And be together forever
Heads we will and tails we'll try again
So I say why don't you and I hold each other and fly to the moon
And straight on to heaven
’Cause without you they're never going to let me in
She turned and smiled at him - one of those smiles that made him forget that she was only sixteen, and he realized that it was actually their own little world she was in.
And he got to be right there with her.

Date: 2003-09-29 09:22 am (UTC)*shivers* I love this - I feel like I'm there in the car with her. And I love how you have Lex in such an overwhelming way, through sight and smell and sound...

Hehe. Poor Lex, helpless to Hudson's charms.
This was a fabulous little peek into their lives.
Isn't this a great universe in which to play? A little scary though, as aelora has created the characters so thoroughly and well that one feels compelled to do them justice. Which you did splendidly. Yay!
This makes me want to take a ride in a convertible with Lex. Or Hudson. I'd be happy either way.
