Catching my breath
Feb. 22nd, 2005 12:04 pmLast week was crazy. Good, but crazy.
First of all, thanks to those who commented or emailed to check up on Nancy (pastor's wife). She's doing amazingly well. Background - about four years ago, she had a triple bypass, after which her doctor basically told her that it was only a matter of time before her arteries clogged and hardened completely and that her next ER visit would be her last. So when we got the call Wednesday morning that she had gone to the ER with chest pains, we expected the worst. The guys were at the house, having their weekly meeting, so they prayed. Jim (her husband) said that, when they got to the ER, God told him that it would be ok.
She had a fantastic doctor who ran tests and didn't worry about how they were going to pay for them - his focus was just on getting her well (a far cry from the previous go-home-and-die doctor). Her EKG - normal. Checked the blockage - there was no blockage. He said that the bypass looked like it had been done last week. Her liver enzymes looked off, but he thinks that that can be solved by just changing her medication. She is home and doing well. Yay!
As for me, I don't know how to explain what the week was like. I've been in a cloud (a funk, whatever) lately, but that all changed last week somehow. I have peace - I guess that's the simplest way to put it. I see the end of the rut. I think I'm going to go the Women's Studies route when I go back to grad school. More on that later, perhaps.
In entertainment news, I just love Bonnie Hunt. She was on Dave last night, and she was describing a car jacking that took place near the set of the movie that she's working on (I'm not sure about the whole story, as I turned on the TV halfway through), and in the middle of the story, Dave said, "It was, like, a car jacking." She responded, "Well, yes, honey, but not 'like' it, it was a car jacking." That made me laugh and laugh. OK, so I'm easily amused. But
ravenluvslex will appreciate it. :)
Have a good day, all!
