There's an online forum for coffee geeks like me. This is very dangerous information, indeed.

But the username coffeesnob is already taken. And whoever it is lists a substandard grinder and coffeepot! Ach! Sullying my good name! Maybe I'll just browse incognito.

Oh, yes. Home roaster, how I covet thee! I can totally see myself roasting fresh beans.

I love the way their posts look like, with the little statements on the left side, which drip, grinder and so on they prefer... Coffee making seems to be a real science.
I'm a bit ashamed to admit I don't really like it, though. I'm more the cocoa type, I guess. ;-)

Ain't no shame in cocoa.

Coffee is a fine science, indeed. I am beside myself with the idea that, maybe someday I could roast my own beans. I think that might cross the obsession line somewhere, but I'm not sure. Even so, it wouldn't be the first time.

Wouldn't that be a nice idea for your next birthday? Not too far away either. There are home roasters as cheap as $80, I hear. Maybe you could get your friends to pool and get one for ya... As they are the best friends in the world, hehe.
Anyway, obsession doesn't have to be bad. I can understand the obsession about coffee, as I'm obsessed with chocolate. I won't eat the cheap stuff anymore, and I'm happy to pay more than twice as much for a decent quality.

ooohhh, an undiscovered coffee site. I bought a decent espresso maker last month for $25, so I've been having nightly lattees--saving me $$, and I like mine strong ( I usually have to ask for double shots at the coffee houses).

I love the espresso, too. I had an espresso maker, but I gave it to my sister because I'm lazy and the french press is easier. :)

I am tempted to click the link. I am tempted to click the link. I must not click the link. I must not resurrect The Addiction.

Would it be Resurrecting The Addiction just to enjoy a little coffee on occasion? Just not every day? *twitch*

I must not click the link! I must not click the link?

AUGH!

(how dare anyone recommend substandard paraphanelia using your name?)

If you start roasting your own beans, I'd like to sign up for the Coffeesnob Coffee of the Month Club. Um...for my ROOMMATE. Yeah.

Right. For your roommate. *nods*

I am in the market for a roaster. Hope said that some require special electrical or gas lines, and that it smells like burnt cookies when roasting, but I'm willing to give it a go. Perhaps I'll visit EE again before I fully make the decision, to see if it's a smell that I can tolerate in the small space that is my apartment.

I couldn't just lurk. Someone mentioned "Starcraps" *giggles* and I had to jump in and give my two cents.
