The Neighbors

I'm writing a story about my neighbors. Well, not specifically my current set of neighbors. Characters loosely based on my neighbors and a couple of other people. It's the first time I've started writing anything by just starting with characters and letting them do what they want. I had no plot ideas, and yet there is a plot. Anyway, I'm having fun with it.

Today is Toms Shoes "One Day Without Shoes." It's to spread awareness about how something as simple as a pair of shoes can impact a child's life (implied - a child who routinely has to go without shoes). Interesting concept. And I get to be barefoot at work. Well, at least at the desk. I am required to wear shoes in class (yes, it is actually a part of my contract. I really want to hear the story about how that came to be something they have to stipulate).

Our plungers have disappeared. Do you know what chaos ensues at a college residence hall when there are no plungers? People are livid. And they are not open to the concept of going to the store and purchasing their own. Apparently, a plunger is an inalienable right. Who knew?

I'm reading Nigella Lawson's Nigella Express. She's adorable. At least, she is in book form. I've not actually watched her show. I wonder if there are snippets on Hulu...
