My current topic of choice for November is going to deal a lot with memory through senses. So this is an interactive post about senses. What are things you like to experience through each of your senses? What do you dislike?
To see -
I like....Sunrise. Anderson Cooper. Jason Statham. And apparently, opposite extremes. :) The clouds right before a tornado. The huge, huge sky as seen in West Texas. Feet. Friends' names as they pop up on the screen saying they are available to chat (particularly around 4:00 a.m.). Coffee mugs/paraphernalia. The color combinations of brown/blue, blue/green, brown/pink, and red/orange/pink. Nelly Cat being cute (which is just Nelly Cat all the time). Argyle prints. My cherry chocolate phone. My new hair color. People who look like cartoon characters. People dancing, particularly Argentine tango. Certain people walking into the lobby.
I dislike...Mesquite trees. Cactus. Colin Ferrell's eyebrows (and yes, I'm too disinterested to even look up if that's how to spell his last name). Certain people walking into the lobby.
To smell -
I like...Rain. Coffee. Boy cologne mixed with cigarette smoke. Fresh-baked bread. Apples. The specific mix of two parts amber, one part patchouli. Dinner that I didn't have to cook. The ocean.
I dislike...Pot pie. Bacon (cooking meat in general, but particularly bacon). Any product that claims to get things clean that has a smell (Clean doesn't smell! If it's really clean, then there's nothing to make a smell! /mini-rant). Pine. Cooked broccoli, cauliflower, or cabbage. And, as I discovered just now - carrot juice. *shudders*
To taste -
I like...Coffee. Popcorn. Caramel (particularly in coffee or on popcorn). Skittles (all except the yellow ones). Bacon and eggs. Cheese. Red wine. Good beer.
I dislike...Pot pie! Mayonnaise. Mushrooms. Licorice. Lamb. Actually, most of the things in this list are disliked more because of their texture than their actual taste...
To hear -
I like...Girls singing with gravelly, bluesy voices. Guys who sing well. Friends or otherwise beloved ones saying my name. Thomas the Cat's curmudgeonly old man meow when he frantically yowls to me as he runs/meanders across the street to let me pet him. A Zippo being opened, used, and closed. The start of a rainstorm. The washer and dryer hum. The chatter that squirrels, chipmunks, and similar animals make. Anderson Cooper's giggle.
I dislike...Birds singing/chirping. My name being said loudly or harshly. Video games. Really loud, obnoxious, bad singing (unless it's karaoke...then that's actually encouraged). Brad Pitt's laugh.
To touch -
I like...Chiseled arms. Bald or scruffy heads. Chinchilla fur (preferably while it is still on the chinchilla, please). Velvet. Bread dough. Being massaged. A brisk wind, especially the first chilly gust of Fall. Soft pajamas.
I dislike...Anything sweet-sticky. Sand in my shoe. Most lotions. Most of the things I dislike tasting. Towels and bedding that look soft but are not.
That was a quick rundown - there are probably so many things I've forgotten. But it's your turn now - what do you like and dislike?
