Hope you look good in black...
Dec. 16th, 2005 03:05 amWednesday night at the desk, people were gathered playing trivial pursuit. Trash talk ensued. Basketball was brought up. Conversation included comparative musing about the court talents of one RA Cheryl and one resident Chris. Challenges were made. Trash talk continued to abound, mainly from one Assistant Hall Director Winfred.
It was decided that Cheryl and Chris would face off the following afternoon. If Cheryl won, Chris and Winfred (Mavericks fans) would have to spend the first five days of next semester wearing a San Antonio Spurs tshirt everywhere they went. If Chris won, Cheryl (San Antonio native and avid Spurs fan) would have to wear a Dallas Mavericks shirt for the same period of time. Winfred declared that he'd have to wear the Mavericks shirt underneath to keep them close to his heart, but accepted the challenge.
Thursday afternoon, the challenge was met. Cheryl, Chris and I traveled over to the rec center - they to play, I to witness. We were joined by Maggie, who had the presence of mind to have a camera phone.
Play began. Cheryl scored. Cheryl scored again. Chris scored. Cheryl scored. Etc., etc. More basketball happened. The game ended.
Then I called Winfred. "Winfred. Suzanne. 12-3. Hope you look good in black."
Total annihilation is fun. Especially when the annihilatee is a college football player twice one's size.
When we got back to the hall, Bennie congratulated Cheryl and wrote the final score on the dry erase board. He had Chris sign it for authentification. Maggie wrote up the details of the game, complete with pictures, in the first ever issue of the SFT Voice. I think it's an excellent reason to start a newsletter.
I think I shall obtain a Spurs tshirt of my own to wear the first five days of next semester. You know, to support Winfred. Support...subtly mock...whatever.
Other fun things that happened today: cards and presents! I got a scarf from Mel that she made herself - it's almost the same color orange as my couch. It's pretty much the scarf to end all scarves. I got a card from
chicklet73 that is great. Love the picture. Heh. Nut loaf. *is twelve* And I got a package from
lilmouse1073 that involved tea, scones, clotted cream, and truffles. *salivates* So good. And the card is beautiful! Thanks to all!
Staff party tonight was fun. My spicy marinara sauce was a big hit. The kids had a good time.
I have to finish my syllabus tonight. I have to take it and make copies tomorrow. There's no way around it. Class starts Monday! And I should probably hand this semester's grades in, too, since they're due tomorrow.
