Five Day Frenzy
May. 10th, 2005 08:37 pmYes, my friends, it is finals week again. No matter how long I've been having finals weeks (this is my 24th finals week, btw) - as a student or a teacher - it is still surprising to me how productive I get this week. But before you congratulate me too heartily, you should know that most of that productivity is just a facade. It is actually procrastination from doing the work that MUST be done this week (i.e., finishing/handing in grades).
1. I've cleaned my kitchen.
2. I've reorganized my movie collection (and now, thanks to
gradeafan, I'll be forced to count them all so that I can give an accurate number on that meme).
3. I've done laundry.
4. I've cleaned out the recycling bins.
5. I've almost finished the three library books that were due today (I hope it's not too late to recheck online, or I'll be forced to travel to the library tomorrow...and perhaps linger there...to recheck them in person).
6. I had extra keys made to my apartment.
7. I bought a Christmas present. Yes, you read that right. Suddenly, yesterday afternoon, I was overwhelmed with the urge to get an early start on Christmas shopping. I'll never be able to wait that long to give it to her.
You probably noticed that phrases like "finalizing grades" and "filling out forms" are nowhere on that list. This is exactly why I will be MIA for a great deal of the rest of the week. I may resurface on Friday. Here's hoping.
And tonight, I have Gilmore Girls and that tree show and MR on MTV Cribs to get through, so there will be much TV watching and no grading tonight when I get home. I am using the fact that I worked on grades during the first exam I gave tonight to justify that behavior.
