Just finished Eve's Revenge. I enjoyed it a lot. It's not for everyone - it helps to have a grasp of feminist theory and some sort of faith. I didn't necessarily agree with everything, but it was an affirmation for me. I've been quasi-looking for a discussion involving faith and power and whole body-self, and I definitely found it in this book.

This morning on the DART, I started reading The Devil's Cup - the History of the World According to Coffee. Pretty funny. My favorite quote thus far is an Oramo nomad saying - "Don't roast your coffee beans in the marketplace." Chunk of wisdom to remind their people not to give away secrets to strangers. I appreciate wisdom related to coffee. Makes me happy. And I finally learned what in the world my mom was talking about when she called me a "whirling dervish." I wonder if she knows that their whirling was, at least in part, due to their being hopped up on coffee? Maybe mom's a prophet...

I also loved how Jules Michelet once gave credit for the enlightenment of Western civilization to the advent of coffee. I'm just not sure that I agree that Western civilization is enlightened.

All his talk about being in Ethiopia makes me crave missir wot and injera. Mmm....when's lunch?
