The first player of the game starts with the topic of "5 Guilty Pleasures" and people who get tagged need to write an LJ entry about 5 Guilty Pleasures as well, and state this rule clearly. In the end you need to choose 5 people to be tagged and list their names.
Things That Give Me Pleasure [although not necessarily guilty]:
1. Having people over to eat or being had over to eat at a friend's house. I recently noticed that I do this a lot. I love leisurely sitting around, sipping coffee (or wine) and eating, accompanied by good conversation. We usually overeat, and the food is usually not exactly health food (I'm making waffles and a frittata - sans hand scorching, hopefully - for the girls tomorrow morning), but it gives me a chance to slow down, which I tend not to do if left to my own devices.
2. Coffee, and lots of it. I love the first cup of the pot. I love my French press. I love having people tell me how good my coffee is. I love that Chris qualified his coffee choice at the store to Karla by saying, "This Love Buzz is good - Suzanne likes it."
3. Banter with the students. If I could just entertain them without having to do all that pesky teaching and grading nonsense, I would love that job. Unfortunately, it is seen by many as "wasting valuable class time," so we have to get down to business sooner than I like.
4. Victoria's Secret. OK, this pleasure is a little guilty. I was recently called out on it. I know, I know. It's a bit indulgent to spend that much on underwear, especially when the amount of money that I spend on one bra at VS could feed a family in a third world country for a month. And speaking of people in third world countries, the company is reported to use sweatshop labor (just like every other friggin' company in America, but whatever). And I'm killing the forests by receiving a new catalog every week. And I'm sure my Women's Studies friends would have something nasty to say regarding exploitation when hearing the rumor (whether it's true or not, I don't know) that one can request the people who work there to model the lingerie to check for fit. Sounds a little far-fetched to me, but I have it on pretty good authority. Or maybe it's just because I'm in Texas, and we're backwards like that. I have no rational response to these arguments. But...but...! Look how pretty! *points at icon* I know that I need another set of pjs or another pair of underwear like I need a hole in the foot, but they last forever...so really, I'm actually saving money in the long run. Yeah. *grasps at straws*
5. Cheese. Cheese, glorious cheese. Cheese is my downfall. I've been known to make a whole meal out of cheese and a tomato. Cheese covers a multitude of faults. I'd probably eat an old shoe if it had enough cheese on it.
