Pumpkin eater
Jan. 10th, 2006 12:25 pmThis is one of them there week-in-one-entry posts. Not really the point of a journal - a word whose root means "daily" - I suppose. But it's my journal; I can cheat if I want to.
Last Wednesday night was great. We went to the Stars game. We got box seats - the ones where the waiters come to you and you don't have to stand in concession lines. This is the greatest idea that ever was. As an added bonus, the boxes have big screen TVs, so we got to watch two games - the one we were actually at, and the Rose Bowl. It was very confusing at times. Dallas wouldn't be doing so well, and everyone would cheer because UT made a touchdown.
After we got home (and after discovering the highly disturbing accuracy of Markos's Randy Travis impression and thus needing something to help repress the memory), there were about five minutes left of the game, so I stuck around to watch it. Then with a minute and a half left, Scott, who hadn't seen any of it yet, shows up to watch it on TiVo. In the interest of not ruining the game with our wild cheering, we decided to keep it quiet. But it was really hard. I'm not an active sports fan. If I run across it, I'll watch it and begrudgingly enjoy it. But the last minute and a half of the Rose Bowl was pretty exciting. So I really wanted to cheer. And Markos's dad is a UT alumnus, so he was going crazy. When Vince Young scored the winning touchdown, Carlos (the dad) started leaping all over the place. I started jumping around in circles. All of this was accomplished in complete silence. Oh, our mouths were forming the "I'm yelling excitedly" position, but no actual sound was coming out. This reduced Markos to a shaking heap on the floor as he laughed and laughed at us. Once he wiped away the tears, he announced, "That was the lamest celebration that I have ever seen." Hey. We tried.
This weekend, I attended a murder mystery at Chris and Karla's. We each had a character to play. Of course, mine would be the stuck-up matron of the family who wears a tiara and insists that everyone call her Baronness, even though she's not one. I had a great time. I got murdered, though. It was bound to happen. Chris thought for a moment that I'd just had too much vanilla rum *salivates* when I dramatically collapsed on the floor. The instructions were funny. My favorite part is a toss up between "Keep in mind that people are playing a character and will probably act in ways that are at times unfriendly," and "You should be careful not to kill someone unless you have a very good reason." After it was over, I told Sarah, "I'm sorry I called you a bitch." She replied, "I'm sorry I killed you." Then we said, in unison, "No you're not." Good times.
Sunday,
ravenluvslex spent the day with me and my church. All part of my sinister plan to get her to move to Denton. *cackles maniacally*
This week the kids are back! Well, the RA's and hall association, anyway. Yay! Company. Tomorrow is the last day I have to wake up early. I get to switch back to nights!!!
Did anything happen while I have been away?
