Last day of classes!
Jul. 6th, 2005 07:21 pm1. Ach. I just had to tell one of the sweetest people in the world that she's going to fail my class. It was ugly. I believe I require beer.
2. Happy belated birthdays to
aelora and
bubbles79!!
3. The 4th was festive. Lots of free food and fireworks. Jim and Nancy grilled for us in the afternoon, and I went with Karla to hear Chris play in the Air Force band on base that evening. The first set was their "rock band." More pop than rock, and really interesting to hear interpretations of the songs by people who don't really listen to that kind of music, but at least I got to hear Chris rap Will Smith's new song. And we got it on video so that we can watch it over and over and over. It's the feel good video of the summer.
Yes, I behaved myself on a military base. I almost slipped when they took the flag at sundown and everyone paused to watch and salute. Comments were made, but under my breath so that only Markos, Scott and Sarah - the ones that would appreciate them - heard them.
The fireworks over the lake were pretty, and the concert band was amazing, but toward the end of the show, the combined smell of moss/dead fish and gunpowder were a bit pungent for my taste. I suppose these things are to be expected when you shoot fireworks at the lake, though.
All in all, good times. Glad I went.
4. I got to spend today with
ravenluvslex. We went swimming and watched Boy Meets World (shut it). More good times.
5. This just hit me - this may be the last official class meeting I have at this school. That is, if I get the desk job with Mel. I'll know before August. It would be grand not to have to teach here or in Dallas in the fall.
I may go have that beer now.
