Reading as fast as my little eyes can go
Sep. 7th, 2004 04:55 pmSo much reading. You people are busy.
Thing the first: What is this gmail that several of you speak of? What's special about it?
Thing the second: Classes....are classes, and not that interesting. Except for this - is there a rule somewhere that, in order to be named Nick, you have to be hot, with eyes that burn into a person's soul (or somewhere close), and a smile that could melt a friggin glacier? I was just wondering...
Thing the third: Stolen clean away from
wingsonwind - Ask me 6 questions.
Any six, no matter how personal, private or random, I have to answer them honestly.
Then post this message in your Livejournal.

Date: 2004-09-08 06:55 pm (UTC)Hey - that's three questions! :) Life in the new apartment is wonderful. It's as if I've never lived anywhere else; it's home. The thing I like most is that there's actually room for all my stuff, as if it were built with me in mind, and that the office and bedroom (the two rooms I tend to let get messy) are upstairs away from company that might pop by. The thing I like least is the usual moving in stuff - reporting and getting things fixed that aren't quite ready (like the dryer that takes forever to dry).
2. What are you teaching this semester and how is it going?
I am teaching three sections of public speaking at NCTC (Cooke and Denton county campuses), two sections of business communication at TCC, and two sections of the basic survey course at ECC. It's going well, but there's a lot of driving. I may have to kill someone by December. We'll see.
3. What are some things you look for in a man? Why do those traits in particular appeal to you?
That list is very long. I'll limit to top 6 (it was originally top 3, but I felt the need to expand).
#1 The main thing is similar spiritual beliefs, simply because they're so much a part of my life, I don't think that someone who doesn't share the same basic experience can really know me as well as I would want my husband to know me.
Everything else is important, but open to negotiation.
#2 Similar political beliefs. I love my dad, but I don't want to have those same conversations with my husband. Certain issues, like education, health care, etc., are important to me, and I prefer someone to whom those things are important as well.
#3 Sense of humor. I must have a man who can laugh at as many things as I can laugh at. Laughing alone is ok sometimes, but after a while, you just look crazy.
#4 Interest in trying new things. Whether it's food or activity, or visiting a new location, I like to try new things. He should come along.
#5 Financial responsibility. Just because it's one of my weak points, and I'd rather not end up living in a box on the street, which would be the likely result of me ending up with someone as...extravagant...as I.
#6 Interest in something beyond casual dating games. I have no patience for such things. If I'm going to spend my valuable time with him, I want him to be thinking along the same lines.
4. What is your favorite memory of all time?
Right now, and this could be just because it's hot and I'd like to be on a beach somewhere, the one that springs to mind is water-skiing/tubing every Sunday my first year of college.
5. Do you like to write? If so, what do you like to write, and what is the favorite thing you have written?
I like to write. I wish I had more time to do it, because I'm very picky, so it takes forever. I actually enjoy writing speeches the most, but that's probably because that's all I have time to write these days. In days gone by (ah, memories), I loved qualitative research. I suppose that makes me a nerd. But I love conducting the research, so by the time I write it, I am so enthusiastic, the words just flow.
My favorite speech that I've written is the one I give about Equal Exchange every semester to the students. I just can't leave it alone - it's always evolving.
6. So when are you coming to visit? :P
As soon as there's money. So...give it a year or three. I've promised TJ that he's first, and I'd like to go see Hope and Margat sometime before the end of the year. *looks up expectantly for money to fall out of the sky*

Date: 2004-09-13 10:12 pm (UTC)Personality - his goofy sense of humor
Physically - his hands
Sensually - his laugh
Mainly, though, what I love about him most is that, because he's so pretty and talented, I've met some really great friends who make me pretty things like that icon. :)
2) what's the nickname you hate most and who gave it to you?
I'm a bit nervous to post this, for fear that the following information will be used against me...but what the hell - Suzie Q (my name's Suzanne). That's the first one that everyone who's trying to be cute (and failing miserably, might I add) wants to use. There was even a guy in high school who decided that my nickname was Suzie Q, Baby I Love You (sung, of course). Only my sister can call me Suzie Q and get away with it, and she only does it occasionally and with great affection.
3) what's your fav piece of furniture?
This table and mirror set that's designed to go in an entryway. One of these days, I'll have a home with a proper entryway to give it deserved display. For now, I've had to split them up, but they're still beautiful.
4) what was the best present you ever got?
My friend Margat made me a ring when she took a metals class. It's just a simple band, but I love it. I didn't realize how much it meant to me until I lost it this summer.
5) do you sleep on your back or on your tummy? Mostly on my side, but I occasionally sleep on my back. Sleeping on my stomach makes my back hurt.
6) what's your favourite song at the moment?
Good question. The one that's running through my mind is a folk song called De Colores. I suppose I'll go with that. It makes me smile whenever I hear it.

Date: 2004-09-13 10:01 pm (UTC)What lack? You commented just now (well, not just now, but...you know what I mean). :)
2) Do you think I'm weird for making up words such as 'commentage'?
It may be weird, but I like it!
3) What's your favorite book of all time?
I loved The Once and Future King. But even more than that, I liked Why Girls Are Weird by Pamela Ribon. Hilarious. Everyone should read it.
4) If you were a vegetable, what would you be and why?
I would be be a cucumber, because I like cucumbers the most. They're crisp and refreshing.
5) What's your biggest fear?
That my friends and family won't be safe.
6) Johnny Depp or Orlando Bloom?
Johnny Depp. Sorry, Orli, you're very pretty, but there's just something about Johnny...
