Dear conference guests,

I do not care about your personal conversations. I don't want to add my two cents. Feel free not to have said conversations at the front desk. That's what the rest of the lobby is for. Observe the inviting furniture. Maybe you want to ooh and aah over it. Just do it over there.

love,
coffeesnob

P.S. Especially do not have these conversations near me when they include your plans to bypass the actually decent local coffee shop in favor of The Evil Empire (Starbucks, for those of you just tuning in. I LOATHE them). I may be forced to spit on you. My bad. Reflex.

I would gladly patronize someone in the greater OKC area other than the Coffee Borg if there was anyone else! Within a five-mile radius of my house there are THREE Starbucks: one near WalMart/Kohl's (for coffee needs after shopping, I guess); one next to the local high school (to corrupt our youth); and one next to an OfficeMax (so you can get your ink cartridge refills and coffee refills at the same time).

A local shop tried opening in the same strip mall as my gym, and the Coffee Borg, seeing a chance to assimilate, bought out a local ice cream store and moved in less than a block away. RIP, brave attempt at local coffee shop *sniff*. Resistance was futile...

They do things like that all the time. However, they've saturated the market so much that they are having to close down stores. I generally don't take joy in the misfortune of others, but *cackles maniacally*

Now I want to come sit on your inviting furniture. *imagines*

It's only inviting in that one misses the poison eye darts of the curmudgeonly night desk clerk. They're actually fairly sterile.

I'd let you sit at the chairs at the desk.

You should come to Canada and try Blenz. It's good. I know I am Satan as I don't drink coffee, but I do drink Chai Lattes, and they have a Chai Latte to DIE FOR! Plus, we have Murchie's. You did like the Murchie's coffee I sent you, didn't you? I can always send more. They're pretty fussy about their beans. They always win best coffee in Vancouver, and we are a big coffee drinking town. Something about the rain and crap like that. :)

I liked it. I certainly didn't have any trouble putting it away. :) I do not, however, like chai lattes. Oddly enough, chai is one of the few teas that I do not like to pair with milk.

I love my coffee that I buy from Equal Exchange the most. The beans are high quality, and it's not just fair-trade certified by TransFair, but it's fair trade guaranteed because the co-op works directly with all the farmers with whom they do business. My friend Hope who works there has been sent on two trips where they go see how specific farmers work and spend a week working with them. She said picking coffee beans is crazy hard work. It's a high quality product and company.
