Sleep is bad
Feb. 22nd, 2006 04:44 amOK. Let me clarify.
Sleep is bad when you are really, really supposed to be somewhere else.
Like standing in front of your class, teaching.
My class tonight started at 6:30. I woke up at 6:40.
I then spouted a string of profanity that intensified as I leapt skillfully from my warm bed into the coldness.
Oh, how cold the coldness was. Like a cold, cold thing. Because I set the heater to turn down to 50 at 5:45. Because that's the time I was supposed to have been walking out the door.
I must say, though, that I am quite quick when panicked. I made it to school by 7:03. The students had left by then (well, wouldn't you? I would.), but they left a roll sheet so that I would know that they had been there.
I can't believe that I slept through my alarm and my phone ringing twice. I must have really needed rest.
Dave was just talking last night about my need to get a decent amount of sleep, especially since I've started running. My body was listening. Unfortunately, it failed to take into account that part of the reason for needing good sleep is so that it can keep up with the schedule. Stupid selective hearing.
So I emailed the students when I got to SFT tonight (on time there at least) to give them their revised schedule since my sleep pattern (or lack thereof) messed up our current schedule. Next week will be fun.
And my coffee that I made at midnight is definitely burnt. Gross.
