You know those things that the experts tell us not to discuss on a first date? Well, that's all I have to say right now.

1. Regarding politics:

I have become so jaded. When news of Cheney's accident reached us (finally), my reaction was, "Well, it's not the worst thing they've done." I'm actually glad that the investigation is closed and that no charges are being pressed. Because as eager as I am to hear about the stupid pet tricks of Tweedledee and Tweedledum in the White House, I'm not certain that I want my life interrupted by immediate or prolonged notification. Besides, I'm not sure being a PR nightmare is a punishable offense.

*sighs* Is it 2008 yet?

2. Regarding religion/spirituality (just can't bring myself to leave religion by itself):

No wonder I've been sleeping badly. God has been waking me up to pray for people. Don't get me wrong - it's nice to hear later that they actually needed it and that they are more at peace with whatever they were going through. But dude. A girl's gotta rest. *annoying whine* At least my realization that the culprit is positive makes me more at peace with my sleep hiatus.

3. Regarding work (and weird sleep patterns - look, Ma, a segue!):

I just woke up at 4:00 a.m. Someone in Central decided that, since we have New People Training (am I really new still? I've been here six months...) from 8:00 to 1:00, it would be a good idea for the night desk people to come in at 5:00 am, work the last three hours of the desk shift, and then meet for training. Which looks like a good idea on paper, until one realizes that we are, in fact, human and not machine - you can't just make us sleep and wake up any time that you want. We don't have an on/off switch. And my body, no matter how much of a pep talk I give it about this round of sleep just being a nap, insists that any sleep done at night be a real night's sleep. So no matter how good an idea it seemed at the time of decision, it turns out that getting to work at 5:00 a.m. still feels like getting to work at 5:00 a.m.

Oh, well. I will have had three hours to caffeinate before I actually have to be nice to anyone. *sips fourteenth cup of coffee*

4. Regarding "I'm so boring the most interesting thing in my life is TV"-ness:

Gilmore Girls )

House snippets )

Smallville )

Beauty and the Geek! )

And after all that, you don't even get a goodnight kiss.

OK. Maybe just this once. *smooches the flist*

I'm going to visit The Parents this weekend. Yay! Free food and relaxation. I'm taking the running shoes and the Pilates tape, but I make no promises that I will actually use them.

Have a good weekend!
