Yesterday was a great day. Didn't start out great, though. Had very vivid dreams about the Ex-or-Whatever-He-Is the whole night before. So realistic that I felt like I was there again. *shudders* I was really glad to finally wake up.

So I was lying in my bed, half awake/half asleep, so not really sure if the dreams were real or not (and getting prepared to be really pissed off at myself if they were real), and the phone rang. It was Mel! Yea! I got up and made candy (seems random, I know, but it's sample speech time in classes, so I make them candy as my demonstrative speech and bring samples - because it's just not nice to talk about food around college students and not bring some to share). She got to my house about the time I was at the rolling-it-into-balls stage, so she helped while we watched Bush interrupt the View and embarrass himself on TV. Then I spent the day with Mel, so things cheered up. I love Mel. Mel rules. I've really missed hanging out with her.

We had brunch at La Madeline. When we got there, there was an ambulance and fire truck (mmm...firemen...) outside - not exactly what you want to see when visiting a restaurant - a guest had an emergency and got wheeled out. There was blood. She seemed conscious, so I think she is ok. We were just trying to stay out of the way, which is not incredibly easy to do at La Madeline. We decided that when we own our own restaurant and someone has to call 911, we're going to find a way to put the other guests at ease. Perhaps offer them free coffee. Or wine.

Anyway, we talked for a long time about life in general and what's going on at our churches and missing Hope. I feel like I just unloaded a lot of stuff - it's really good to talk to someone when I don't have to explain a lot about the people whom I mention or where I've been or why I think something is significant enough to be worth mentioning. It was just good.

Then we went to Borders, and she stopped me from going wild with the buying - I actually walked out without purchasing anything. We looked for shoes and discovered that we both can wear a size 5 in kid's shoes. Nice to know, since they're about half the price of adult shoes. Then we went to the cupboard - had to get more coffee, and they're the only place around that sells Equal Exchange.

We're going to start working out together at the new facility on campus on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. It will be nice to see what my extra tuition that last year of grad school helped pay for.

I have to go buy more chocolate so I can dip the rest of the candy for tonight. I never seem to have enough. Might have something to do with the fact that I "test" it a lot while it melts. Gotta make sure it's edible, right?
