Is this thing on?
Sep. 20th, 2007 02:49 amWow. It's been a while since I've posted. It's been even longer since I've posted anything real. So how about an update?
The semester is now in full swing. My students gave their first speeches this week. They're always so nervous, since it's the first official presentation they have in class for which they receive a grade, so I make it a simple one. They just have to pick a piece of literature that means something to them and tell us why it's significant. I love these speeches. Some of them blow it off, which I'll admit is easy to do, but some of them really open up. It not only serves as a get-up-and-try-not-to-pass-out activity but also as a community-building one.
Also, I love all three of my classes this semester. It's partially the students, but not completely, because I always have generally good students (as those that aren't interested in being there typically aren't after the first few weeks). It's mostly whatever's going on with me. Something in me has shifted recently, and I haven't quite processed it yet, but it's a welcome change. "Relaxing" isn't exactly the right word, but it's a similar experience. I don't know. At any rate, I'm interested in what I'm doing again, and that's good.
All's quiet on the boy front. Too quiet. Downright eerie. I think I just saw a tumbleweed roll by.
I've been reading a lot, if you haven't noticed. That's pretty much all my posts have been for a while. It's good for introspection, but maybe not so good for the socialization. But Maggie and Michelle have helped with that. It's hard to be completely antisocial when you live with two other people.
Is this post as difficult to read as it is to write? I feel like I'm posting in someone else's journal, which is weird because, you know, I'm not. Yeah.
Anyway, I thought I'd touch base with the three of you who haven't given up on ever hearing from me again. *waves* Have a good day.

Date: 2007-09-21 02:10 pm (UTC)And I, in gratitude, would spend the rest of the semester totally sucking up to you. ("Wash your car?" "Pick up your dry cleaning?" "Brew your coffee?" "Certainly!")

Date: 2007-09-21 06:40 am (UTC)I read a book!!!
Date: 2007-09-20 05:26 pm (UTC)ok, I have read kids books...but do those really count? Anyway, the last time I was at the library, I also picked up a book... I don't really remember the name (and am too lazy to go upstairs to find out the title) but it has something to do with- - only the cat knows..it is a mystery. The title looked familiar, so i picked it up. Maybe you read it? is it any good?
Anyway, I miss you!!!

Date: 2007-09-21 06:45 am (UTC)I like that guy. He's become one of my dad's heroes. Dad's been planting trees like mad. He spends most of his waking hours outside. Retirement has made him really busy.
I know nothing of this cat mystery book of which you speak. But I would read it. My "to read" list is enormous.
Aw, I miss you and Jeff and the kids. *hugs* Give everyone hugs and kisses for me.
