Actually, I totally skipped Sunday Funday (the day when the students can start moving back into the dorm). I just get a kick out of the name. If only "stress" or "panic" rhymed with "sun," the day could be more aptly named.

But I'm back on nights at the dorm. Conferences are over (yay!), and school is about to start (...), and I haven't updated for real in a while. Time for lists.

Experiences from the past week:

1. Turning our two buildings around from a conference hall to a residence hall in one short week (when we usually have at least three) because a new conference that we (and by "we" I mean "nobody actually working in this building") wanted to impress came in. It was rough.
2. Getting to know a new hall director, assistant hall director, and three new RAs.
3. Making the staff nameplates for our wall pockets out of animal macros (my love for the macros is undying, apparently). i cach teh kouch. awesom!
4. Seeing the look on the greeter's face at El Guapos today when we said there would be 22 in our party. The waitstaff was calm and amazing, though.
5. Watching Sabra win SYTYCD!! Happy!! And I just don't get sick of watching Neil just do anything. He's adorable. Adorable and twelve. I'm a dirty old lady. And Danny's solo the night before was the most amazing thing there ever was. Someone said that there were no words to describe it. My words were "Damn, dude." It's like his feet have wings. He leaps and then just soars. And hey - Lacey was there, too.
6. Saying goodbye to Michellemybelle as she goes back to China for another year. Sad.
7. Getting to see pictures of two new baby girls in our church, born a day apart. Noemi and Cate. *loves*
8. Going to the clubs for the last time in a long, long, long time. *sighs*
9. Feeling really alone even though I never actually am alone.
10. Watching Wayne's World with Michelle and Maggie, who were seeing it for the first time. I'm not sure that they would have found it very funny if I wasn't there cackling.

Experiences to come:

1. School starting in a week. I'm trying three afternoon classes within a very close driving range this semester. I haven't had evenings free during a long semester since I began teaching. I'm not sure what to do with myself.
2. The plumber coming this morning! Yay for sinks that will work without the aid of duct tape!
3. Picking up Casino Royale from the library - finally. When I put it on reserve, I was 34th in line. And now it is mine for the taking. Well, the temporary taking, watching, and returning. But mine for a little while.
4. Going to see my parents on Labor Day weekend. I haven't seen them since Father's Day. It may not seem that long, but that's quite a long stretch for me.
5. Drinks with Mel to celebrate her birthday tonight.
6. Seeing the staff do their skit tomorrow at the last RLT (training) meeting. There is singing and mockery and dancing involved. It's pretty much going to rule all.
7. Hopefully getting paid for the sub work that I did in July.
8. Season premieres (ok, so that's further in the future than everything else on the list, but I'm still looking forward to it).
9. Working on an idea for a book. I think I found something that I won't actually be able to finish until some other things fall into place. Wow. That was clear. I'm not sure I'm ready to talk about it yet.
10. Eating one of those bagels that Panera brought over for Sunday Funday. I wasn't there, but I certainly have no issue with partaking of the spoils.
