Three years

coffeesnob318Today is Friday. But three years ago, today was a Monday. I was finishing up my first six weeks of teaching at El Centro, where I was subbing for the department chair while she was on maternity leave. I had fallen in love with the school (and I had fallen in deep smit with one of her students who, this very day three years ago, was technically no longer my student any more).
That afternoon, I was standing in downtown Dallas, winds caught up crosswise between the buildings gusting around me, and I received a call on my cell phone with very bad reception. My little godson had been born. His name is Micah.
So on the day I said goodbye to someone who could have been Someone, I got to say hello to someone whom I get to watch grow up. Even if it's mostly in pictures and stories. But my constant prayer for him and his little sister, even though from afar, is this - "And what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?" (Micah 6:8).
