Too sensational to be managed

I am happy to report that these pants I'm wearing have recently become huge on me. I discovered this when I got up to let the Grab-and-Go guy (breakfast cart, perverts) in and almost lost them. That could have been awkward. Good thing I was behind the desk.
I would put my ticker up for NaNoWriMo, but I've only written 546 words, so it would be more pathetic than anything else. Instead of writing, I've been reading; I finished two more books.
1. Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistlestop Café - Fannie Flagg
2. The Whitney Chronicles - Judy Baer
3. Shopaholic Takes Manhattan - Sophie Kinsella
4. The Devil Wears Prada - Lauren Weisberger
5. Hey Nostradamus! - Douglas Coupland
6. Microserfs - Douglas Coupland
7. The Coffee Book: Anatomy of an Industry from crop to the last drop - Gregory Dicum and Nina Luttinger
8. Mama Makes Up Her Mind and Other Dangers of Southern Living - Bailey White
9. Italian Fever - Valerie Martin
10. Eleanor Rigby - Douglas Coupland
11. The Notebook - Nicholas Sparks
12. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone - J.K. Rowling
13. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - J.K. Rowling
14. The God of Small Things - Arundhati Roy
15. Girl Meets God: On the path to a spiritual life - Lauren F. Winner
16. Big Girls Don’t Whine - Jan Silvious
17. House of Leaves - Mark Danielewski
18. The Magician's Nephew - C.S. Lewis
19. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe - C.S. Lewis
20. The Horse and His Boy - C.S. Lewis
21. Prince Caspian - C.S. Lewis
22. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader - C.S. Lewis
23. The Silver Chair - C.S. Lewis
24. The Last Battle - C.S. Lewis
25. Yellow - Don Lee
26. The Music of Chance - Paul Auster
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling - Not much to say. I still like it. Fandomness has infected me, though. I kept trying to slash Harry and Draco. I feel dirty.
The Pleasure of My Company by Steve Martin - Great book. You should all read it. You should also imagine the text in Steve Martin's voice as you read. It makes it even funnier. I can't wait to read Shopgirl.
As I am wont to do with all my favorite books that I read, here are some of my favorite quotes:
"What would happen to me and to those around me if my power became uncontained? If I were suddenly just too sensational to be managed?"
"…in much the same way one would glance over to someone wearing a giant spongy orange fish hat: You want to look, but you don’t want to engage."
"I was inspired to blow on my hot coffee in three-quarter time."
"Sometimes I just resign myself to disaster."
"This meant that my two distinct and separate identities were to show up at the same place and time. This is like asking Superman and Clark Kent to appear at Perry White’s birthday lunch."
"It all sounded too observant and creepy. Which made me ask myself whether I actually was too observant and creepy, but the answer came up no, because I know my own heart."
"I had now committed myself to a drawl, and I was rapidly trying to uncommit."
"If a waitress were asking me these questions I would definitely consider it a come-on."
"…for every Focus there is an equal and opposite Distraction."
