I was prepared to hate this episode so very, very much. I had no positive expectations. Perhaps that's why I liked it, because it was impossible to disappoint me. Or maybe I liked it because all the characters played nice with each other. You know, except for that whole accidental killing business. :)
Or maybe I liked it because the Luthors were on in full force:
- The MB is back! Poisioning Genevieve! That was the coolest, Luthorest scene ever. It is worth the whole Genevieve/Jason storyline to have had that scene. I forgot how much I love Lionel ruthless.
- Lex toying with Clark. I like it. And damn, that man is hot.
- And this line - "What do you want me to do - give him a good spanking?" - made me spew Froot Loops. I was unprepared for the happy place to which that line took me.
Or the snippets of Clex:
- "I bet you're going to be a great dad." "You too, Lex."
- What Clark said: "I want you to meet a friend of mine." What Clark meant: "I want you to meet your other daddy."
Speaking of Clark and Dadddydom:
- I'm not at a place in my life where I'm looking to start a family. I'm quite content for the time being with holding and spoiling other people's children and then giving them back when they get fussy. But seeing Tom Welling holding a baby sparked something in me. Until, of course, he spoke to the baby the same way he spoke to the dog.
- *imagines Clark pretending to be the Velveteen Rabbit; dies happy*
And, big surprise, Lana was such a brat:
- "Oh, Clark. He's an orphan. Just like we were." Should've known that was coming.
- Evan dies, and the thing that makes her sad: "I had been so disconnected. When Evan showed up, I knew where I belonged. I had a purpose. Because everything in the universe is all about me..."
So I liked it.
